Choose Float when visual scheduling and delivery economics are the primary planning needs.
Consider Allocyn when those planning needs should sit alongside broader project execution, requests, permissions, and reporting.
Start from the visual schedule used to decide who works on which phase and when. Float should be tested for scheduling clarity, availability, time off, project estimates, and the Pro-level time and financial views listed in its materials. Allocyn should be tested for the path from project work and resource requests through allocation, capacity, time, budget, permissions, and reporting.
Count every active person who would appear on the Float schedule, not only administrators or people who log in. Confirm whether Pro is required for rates, costs, margins, or advanced reporting, then compare that amount with the applicable Allocyn package. Include historic assignments, leave, project phases, rate access, exports, and any integration used to keep project execution aligned with the schedule.
Ask a planner to move a phase, account for leave, and resolve an overlapping assignment. Check whether the effect remains understandable across the whole planning period.
Use one project estimate and representative rate, cost, and margin information. Verify the Float tier and permissions needed for each reviewer.
Follow the changed allocation into tasks, actual time, status, and the next report. Document every synchronization or manual update required.
Choose a project with milestones, a planned phase, leave, competing work, recorded time, and a commercial forecast. Move the phase in both products, resolve the resulting availability conflict, and ask delivery and finance reviewers to explain the updated position. Confirm which information stays current automatically and which records still need a separate owner.
